1st Annual Wawasee Jazz Party

Chautauqua-Wawasee and Community Partners Parkview Warsaw, the Ian and Mimi Rolland Foundation, Brembeck Family Foundation and Platinum Sponsor Sweetwater present the 1st Annual Wawasee Jazz Party, September 7th through the 9th in Syracuse.  Families can enjoy the sounds of jazz, swing and big bands all weekend long at these venues.  The Oakwood Resort Event Center, Eagles Club #3760, Owl’s Nest, Wawasee High School’s Auditorium, and Syracuse Lakeside Park all weekend long.  For ticket information, go to chqw.org.  Monies raised for this event will go to the many charitable projects that Chautauqua-Wawasee does for our community.  Come out to the 1st Annual Wawasee Jazz Party, Friday, September 7th through Sunday, September 9th.

SPL Harry Potter Crafts for Teens

The Syracuse Public Library invites teens to Harry Potter Crafts.  A new series of fandom activities.  Sign up is required, so those interested need to have their name on the list of interested persons and be invited to attend.

Syracuse Trail Walk & Yoga

The Syracuse Public Library has teamed up with Syracuse-Wawasee Trails for a Syracuse Trail Walk & Yoga program.  Each Thursday, starting at the library, enjoy a 20 minute trail walk and then yoga at the library.  This program is open to the public and starts at 9:15 a.m.  

Syracuse Kids Olympics

Boys and girls in grades K-5 are invited to participate in the 3rd Annual Syracuse Kid Olympics on Saturday, August 25th! This event will give kids the opportunity to have fun while competing in a variety of different events that involve running, jumping, throwing and kicking. Participants may compete in any or all events of their choosing. Participants can pre-register at the Syracuse Community Center or the day of the event at the Harold Schrock Athletic Complex in Syracuse.

MPL Knitting Club

Learn a new skill with the Knitting Club on Thursday, August 16 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Milford Public Library. The members will teach anyone interested how to knit and crochet. Individuals are also welcome to stop by to work on a project. If you can’t make it to this meeting, future meetings are always on the first and third Thursday each month. No library card or registration needed.

SPL Biography Discussion

The Syracuse Public Library invites adults to participate in a discussion of the first two parts of the biography, The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt’s new world on Monday, August 20th at 6 pm.  George Arnold will give his thoughts on the book and share his experiences as a bird researcher, a naturalist and caretaker of Thornhill Nature Preserve.

NWCPL Cemetery Walk

The North Webster Community Public Library will once again present a North Webster Cemetery Walk on Sunday, September 9th from 1-3pm.  Take a guided walking tour through the North Webster Cemetery where enactors portray individuals buried there. Hear their life stories and learn about local history through the lives of ordinary people. Tours begin at the North Webster Library located at 301 N. Main Street, and leave every 10 minutes to walk the short distance to the cemetery. Golf cart shuttles available. This event is free and open to the public.

SPL Scott Workman Performing

The Syracuse Public Library invites you to hear gorgeous sounds of an acoustic guitar by Scott Workman on Wednesday, August 8th at 6pm.  Workman teaches at both Grace College and North Manchester University that caps a lifetime of guitar playing.  A cheese bar and recognition of volunteers of the Syracuse Library starts the evening’s performance.

SPL De-Clutter Sessions

Tuesday, August 7th begins a series of weekly support group meetings for people that want to de-clutter at the Syracuse Public Library.  The sessions begin at 1 p.m. with the doors closing at five after.  Anyone who wishes to attend the meetings is welcome to come to some or all meetings.  A facilitator and another person experienced in personal management of their own stuff will guide the discussions.

Rogers Electro-Matics Garage Sale to Benefit Rose Home

Rogers Electro-Matics employees in Syracuse will once again participate in the Syracuse Town Wide Garage Sales.  This year, they will donate their proceeds to the Rose Home in Syracuse.  Stop by Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse August 4th from 8:00am to 5:00 pm and find treasures that will help a great cause!
