Heart of the Community Auction and Raffle

The Heart of the Community Auction and Raffle at North Webster Community Center will be October 7th from 5-9:30 pm.

Silent and Live auctions. Also, all tickets purchased are entered into a raffle. Grand prize winner can choose from either a Pontoon, Polaris Ranger or $12,000 CASH.

2nd place is $200 a month for a year in groceries from New Market and 3rd place is $100 a month in gas for a year from Freedom Express.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Dinner is provided by The Sleepy Owl and being served 5-7:30 pm.

SPL Meet Doctor Who

The Syracuse Public Library is hosting the group now known as Doctor Who Connected. This group discusses favorite, and pivotal Doctor Who stories as well as other science-fiction videos such as The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The group will meet Wednesday, September 27th, and every last Wednesday of each month, at 6 PM. This is a multi-age group discussion where people can connect by playing games, watching episodes, and discussing science fiction stories with others.

NWPL Murder Mystery Dinner

The North Webster Public Library is holding a Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday, September 30th at 6pm. It is set in New Hampshire in the 1960’s. It costs $15 per player and includes dinner, a character assignment, and clues. Participants are asked to wear their character costumes and act the part throughout the evening. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from the Adult Services Director, Beth Smith. Call 574-834-7122 to join in for some fun!

MPL Story Time

Story Time for children between ages 3 to 6 will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 27th with stories, crafts, and snacks at the Milford Public Library. Story Time is a free program directed toward preschool-aged children to develop interpersonal and literary skills. Story Time allows children to understand the written word and the world they live in while having fun.  Parents, caregivers, and children do not need a library card to participate.  Sessions are available on Wednesday at 10:15 am or 1:30 pm, or Thursdays at 7:00 pm. Register your child at the children’s circulation desk or by calling 658-4312.

MPL NOURISH YOUR BRAIN NUTRITION PROGRAM

Join Jackie Franks with Purdue Extension to “Nourish Your Brain” on September 25th, 6:30 pm at the Milford Public Library. During this one-hour presentation, we will discuss how the brain ages as well as nourishing your brain with food and activities to protect against memory loss….it’s never too early to start!  Samples of “brain healthy” foods will be provided. Sign up will be available beginning September 18 at the adult circulation desk.

SPL Harry Potter Craft Club

The Harry Potter Craft Club for teens will meet on Tuesday, September 19 at 6pm to decorate their drinking mugs. Signup is requested for adequate supplies and to receive the club related pass. 

SCC Pinterest Parties

Join fellow crafters to complete popular and fun projects together using Pinterest at the Syracuse Community Center! Materials and instruction are provided. The registration deadline is Friday, September 15th before the scheduled class. The first class is scheduled for Monday, September 18th where participants will be making Book Wreaths. A wreath just for book lovers that will be made with pages from an old book.

MPL Knitting Club

Knit and crochet gifts for yourself and loved ones with the Knitting Club on September 15th starting at 1:30 pm at the Milford Public Library. Current members are always happy to show newcomers how to weave blankets, hats, and other projects.

Wawasee Whiteout T-Shirts

The Retail Merchandising class at Wawasee High School is selling Whiteout t-shirts for the home football game against Elkhart Memorial on Friday, October 6th.  Size adult small to 3X is available.  Pre-orders must be in by Thursday, September 14th.  If interested, contact Mr. Murphy at Wawasee High School at 574-457-3147.
