SCC Santa Letter Program

The Syracuse Community Center has made special arrangements with the North Pole so your child can receive a personalized letter from Santa! Letters written to Santa can be dropped off to a special mailbox in the Syracuse Community Center lobby during open hours. On December 2nd, an area of the Community Center will be designated for children to write letters at Breakfast with Santa. Santa will take them to the North Pole after he has had breakfast with the kids. Santa’s letters will be delivered to the children on the week of December 11th. For more information, you can pick up a form at the Syracuse Community Center.

SCC Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

On December 2nd, the Syracuse Community Center will host Santa Claus from 8:00am-11:00am!  They ask you to come join Santa for a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage and refreshments. After breakfast, kids can make a craft, write a letter to Santa and enjoy cookies and milk while listening to the Wawasee High School Christmas band. The admission to this event is $3.00 for adults and free for the kids. For more information, call 574-447-3440.

SCC Pinterest Parties

Join fellow crafters to complete popular and fun projects together using Pinterest at the Syracuse Community Center! Materials and instruction are provided and anyone from ages 12 and up can participate. The registration deadline is Friday, December 1st before the scheduled class and the fee is $15 per class. The next class is scheduled for Monday, December 4th where participants will be painting a snowman on rustic wood which then can be hung on or propped near your front door.

Light Up The Night

On December,1st the Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department invites you and your family to the first lighting of the Central Park holiday light display at Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw. Children will receive glow necklaces while supplies last. Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride in the First Friday Twinkle Parade and stop at the Center Lake Pavilion, where they will visit with children inside. Face painters will also be inside the pavilion, along with games and activities. You won’t want to miss it!

MPL Knitting Club

The Knitting Club at the Milford Public Library is inviting you to join them on December 1st from 1:30 to 3:30pm to create an original gift as the holidays are approaching by knitting and crocheting with other members of the club. No sign up or library card is needed.

SLP Dogs and Cats Get Warm Blankets

The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library are assisting children with a project to give blankets to some animals in shelters this winter. The Friends purchased the fleece, cut the pieces and are prepared to help children tie the edges together on Thursday, November 30th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The blankets are going to the abundance of cats staying at New Hope Pet Rescue and larger animals at Dr. Brungardt’s animal clinic. Anyone that wants to help make the blankets is encouraged to drop in. This is an opportunity to learn and practice the no-sew way to make a cozy, colorful blanket.

Key Club Stuff the Bus

The Wawasee High School Key Club will be holding their annual non-perishable food drive, Stuff the Bus, during the week of November 13th-18th. Their goal is to stuff a bus full of food that will be donated to the Syracuse, North Webster, and Milford food pantries. The bus will be at the high school every morning during the week for student and staff donations. Key Club will be at the Dollar General store in Milford on Tuesday, November 14th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Lances in North Webster on Thursday, November 16th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Lances in Syracuse on Saturday, November 18th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Donations will be delivered to the food pantries Saturday afternoon. 

WHS Fall Play

Save the date for the fall play production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe November 17th, 18th, or 19th at Wawasee High School. Tickets will cost $5 and will be able to be bought through general admission. Tickets will also be available until November to be pre-ordered through Kristin Bonner at Wawasee High School. It will be a fun-filled evening with laughter and awe as Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan take you into the breathtaking world of Narnia with dwarves, ogres, wood nymphs, and woodland creatures. 

Syracuse Cub Scout Cake Auction

Syracuse Cub Scout Pack 3828 is having their annual Cake Auction, fundraising event, on Monday, November 13 at 6 PM at the Syracuse Community Center. They will be auctioning off cakes made by the Cub Scouts. There will also be silent auction tables with other baked goods and much more.

SPL Special Writing Workshop

November is National Novel Writing Month. The Syracuse Public Library is inviting you to get some writing inspiration on Saturday, November 11th at 11:30 AM. Work on some fun exercises that use storytelling to write your story.
