WHS Athletic Department Apology
On Monday, November 6, the Wawasee High School Athletic Department hosted its Fall Sports Awards program to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our fall athletes. A regular part of this program is a multimedia presentation showing pictures of our fall athletes in action throughout their seasons. This presentation has always been set to music. Unfortunately, some of the music selections this fall were not appropriate for the program. These music choices do not reflect the Wawasee High School, the Athletic Department, or the values of our community. The Athletic Department would like to apologize for not conducting a better check on the music selections prior to showing the video to our athletes, their families, and their friends. We are currently working on replacing the music from this video for those who have or will be expressing interest in purchasing the video. This may create a small delay in distributing the video to those wanting to purchase it. We sincerely hope that any trust that has been lost can be regained as we strive to provide a variety of options for high school students to participate in education-based, interscholastic athletics. |

SUMMER DEVICE TAKE HOME PLANS
Great News! Wawasee students will be keeping their devices over the summer months. Our goal is to encourage and facilitate continuous learning throughout the summer. Partnering with Community Libraries: Wawasee is partnering with local community libraries to inform students how to obtain access to eBooks for summer reading. Each Wawasee student is eligible for a free Evergreen card. Representatives from community libraries will work with schools to help students understand how to obtain a library card and check out eBooks through the community library systems. Wawasee school library eBooks will also be available for check out over the summer months. Summer Weekly School Visit Times: To help support the summer take home program, there will be an open evening, weekly at each community’s school library. In Syracuse, it will be at Wawasee High School. Parents and/or their students will be able to come to any of the open sites to check out books and get help with their computer devices or have them repaired if necessary. A schedule for each school will be posted on each school's website and our corporation’s website. Paid Insurance: The Wawasee Community School Corporation will be providing insurance for all devices beginning the month of June. If parents are concerned about having the devices at home this summer, they can contact their building principal during regular school hours. Relocation: For students who are leaving our school district during the summer, they must return the device, charger, and case to the WCSC Central Office or Wawasee High School Technology Department. Failure to return a device will result in turning over the full amount of the device and case to collections and/or small claims. Wawasee Community Schools is excited to help provide this opportunity for our students and look forward to this new transition in education! If you have questions, please feel free to contact your school office or Dee Blair, Technology Secretary, at 574-457-3147, ext. 2924 or dblair@wawasee.k12.in.us NOTICE TO FUTURE 4th, 5th AND 6th GRADE PARENTS: We are collecting the 4th and 5th grade ASUS Flip books at the end of the year and replacing them with Dell Chromebooks for next year. The new Dell’s will be distributed as soon as the new cases arrive in June. Third grade students will be turning in their iPads and receiving the returned chromebooks from this year’s seniors. Future 5th and 6th grade students will be able to pick up their new computers from the high school tech office when they are ready to be distributed in June. Parents will be notified when they are available. |
