Great News!
Wawasee students will be keeping their devices over the summer months. Our goal is to encourage and
facilitate continuous learning throughout the summer.

Partnering with Community Libraries:
Wawasee is partnering with local community libraries to inform students how to obtain access to eBooks for
summer reading. Each Wawasee student is eligible for a free Evergreen card. Representatives from
community libraries will work with schools to help students understand how to obtain a library card and check
out eBooks through the community library systems. Wawasee school library eBooks will also be available for
check out over the summer months.

Summer Weekly School Visit Times:
To help support the summer take home program, there will be an open evening, weekly at each community’s
school library. In Syracuse, it will be at Wawasee High School. Parents and/or their students will be able to
come to any of the open sites to check out books and get help with their computer devices or have them
repaired if necessary. A schedule for each school will be posted on each school's website and our
corporation’s website.

Paid Insurance:
The Wawasee Community School Corporation will be providing insurance for all devices beginning the month
of June. If parents are concerned about having the devices at home this summer, they can contact their
building principal during regular school hours.

For students who are leaving our school district during the summer, they must return the device, charger, and
case to the WCSC Central Office or Wawasee High School Technology Department. Failure to return a device
will result in turning over the full amount of the device and case to collections and/or small claims.
Wawasee Community Schools is excited to help provide this opportunity for our students and look forward to
this new transition in education! If you have questions, please feel free to contact your school office or Dee
Blair, Technology Secretary, at 574-457-3147, ext. 2924 or

We are collecting the 4th and 5th grade ASUS Flip books at the end of the year and replacing them with Dell
Chromebooks for next year. The new Dell’s will be distributed as soon as the new cases arrive in June. Third
grade students will be turning in their iPads and receiving the returned chromebooks from this year’s seniors.
Future 5th and 6th grade students will be able to pick up their new computers from the high school tech office
when they are ready to be distributed in June. Parents will be notified when they are available.

WCSC Needs Substitute Teachers

posted Feb 27, 2017, 8:24 AM by Jeremy Van Lue   [ updated Feb 27, 2017, 8:49 AM by Joy Goshert ]

Wawasee Community School Corporation is looking for people interested in becoming substitute teachers.  You can choose the school(s) you want to work for and even the grade level(s).  You choose when you want to work, and since we use an automated system, you can search for jobs online or get phone calls when a job is available.

Subbing is flexible, so you pick the days and times; full and half days are available.  If you are a retiree, 2nd/3rd shift worker, or just want to make a difference in students' lives, give subbing a try.  This is great for college students looking to earn some extra money.

We do have a few requirements, such as having a minimum of 30 college credits, submitting to a drug screen (which we pay for) and having a background check completed (for a minimal fee).  To apply, simply visit our website at, select the "Prospective Employee" button on the left, and apply to the Substitute Teacher posting, or give Jordan a call at 574-457-3188, ext. 1200.

WCSC Community Meetings

posted Feb 6, 2017, 10:05 AM by Jeremy Van Lue   [ updated Feb 6, 2017, 10:05 AM ]

Dear Wawasee Community School Corporation parents of middle school students,

You spoke and we listened!  A year ago the Wawasee School Board brought in a team that interviewed over 1000 of our students, staff members, parents and community members.  You told us what was going well with our school district, along with suggestions for our future together.  While there was a high level of satisfaction with our Wawasee schools, several areas needed addressed.
    1. Technology
    2. Staff Professional Development
    3. Communication
    4. Providing quality and equal educational opportunities for both Milford and Wawasee Middle School students.

We feel that Wawasee is improving with technology with 1-to-1 computer implementation this year, with staff development through grants and Smart Starts to assist our employees, and with communication channels that include more efforts and technology to connect school to home.  Wawasee is not where we want to be in these improvement areas, but we are getting better, just like we expect of students every day.

MIddle school recommendations from last year's study centered on curriculum offerings, class sizes, grade levels, and transition to Wawasee High School.  As we move forward with our middle schools, we'd like your input.  Two evenings have been set aside to give you an opportunity to hear a few ideas that are being proposed for middle school improvement and to offer your thoughts on making middle school an even better learning experience for young adolescents.

Days, Times and Locations for the meetings are:

Monday, February 20 - Milford School - 6:30-8:00 pm in the Cafeteria

Monday, February 27 - Wawasee Middle School - 6:30-8:00 pm in the Lecture Room
