The organization “Give Hope” made a goal to bring Jen Bricker, a motivational speaker and professional gymnast who was born without legs, to the community to speak about students struggling with the negativity in their lives and to tell her story about how she overcame the obstacles in her life. Jen Bricker is scheduled to be at Wawasee High School Gymnasium on Wednesday, March 15th. This presentation is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 PM.
Wawasee Community School Corporation is looking for people interested in becoming substitute teachers. You can choose the school(s) you want to work for and even the grade level(s). You choose when you want to work, and since we use an automated system, you can search for jobs online or get phone calls when a job is available.
Subbing is flexible, so you pick the days and times; full and half days are available. If you are a retiree, 2nd/3rd shift worker, or just want to make a difference in students' lives, give subbing a try. This is great for college students looking to earn some extra money.
We do have a few requirements, such as having a minimum of 30 college credits, submitting to a drug screen (which we pay for) and having a background check completed (for a minimal fee). To apply, simply visit our website at www.wawasee.k12.in.us, select the "Prospective Employee" button on the left, and apply to the Substitute Teacher posting, or give Jordan a call at 574-457-3188, ext. 1200.

The only requirements are that the individual be at least 21 years of age with a good driving record. Don't let the buses scare you away, they are very nice to drive and we can train anyone. Substitute and trip drivers can have very flexible schedules. We also currently have permanent routes available. If you are a retiree, stay at home mom or dad, 2nd and 3rd shift worker looking for extra income...we have a place for you on our team!

Dear Wawasee Community School Corporation parents of middle school students,
You spoke and we listened! A year ago the Wawasee School Board brought in a team that interviewed over 1000 of our students, staff members, parents and community members. You told us what was going well with our school district, along with suggestions for our future together. While there was a high level of satisfaction with our Wawasee schools, several areas needed addressed.
2. Staff Professional Development
4. Providing quality and equal educational opportunities for both Milford and Wawasee Middle School students.
We feel that Wawasee is improving with technology with 1-to-1 computer implementation this year, with staff development through grants and Smart Starts to assist our employees, and with communication channels that include more efforts and technology to connect school to home. Wawasee is not where we want to be in these improvement areas, but we are getting better, just like we expect of students every day.
MIddle school recommendations from last year's study centered on curriculum offerings, class sizes, grade levels, and transition to Wawasee High School. As we move forward with our middle schools, we'd like your input. Two evenings have been set aside to give you an opportunity to hear a few ideas that are being proposed for middle school improvement and to offer your thoughts on making middle school an even better learning experience for young adolescents.
Days, Times and Locations for the meetings are:
Monday, February 20 - Milford School - 6:30-8:00 pm in the Cafeteria
Monday, February 27 - Wawasee Middle School - 6:30-8:00 pm in the Lecture Room

On Wednesday, January 4, friends and family of Kimberly Conrad and her son Stephen Conrad II will be received at Wawasee High School from 1-5 pm. A celebration of their lives will take place at 6 pm at Wawasee High School.
Kim Conrad was a long time elementary teacher and instructional coach and involved in cheerleading and gymnastics as both a coach and judge for Wawasee Community School Corporation. While she retired last spring, she continued to fill in as a long-term substitute teacher and as a substitute teacher this school year. The Wawasee Schools' family will miss her - her beautiful smile, her hugs, her willingness to do whatever was needed, hearing her say, "It's all good!", and so much more!
Her son Stephen was a graduate of Wawasee High School and played both golf and basketball. He also played golf at the collegiate level and was inducted into the Indiana High School Golf Hall of Fame.
